You can also opt for upper eyelid surgery if you want to improve your appearance. Issues like the skin around the eyes becoming thinner and fat turning into bumps can all go away with this procedure!
Lower Eyelid Blepharoplasty: Lower eyelid blepharoplasty is a cosmetic surgery that eliminates fat bulges in the eye area, extra sagging skin below your eyes and helps to improve one’s appearance drastically.

What to expect at the consultation for Blepharoplasty ?

During blepharoplasty consultation, Dr. Anjali will need information about your medical history, allergies, any medications (both over-the-counter and prescription) you take, and other health-related concerns.

Dr. Anjali will examine your eyes and assess your tear production in this consultation. Any relevant information from your eye doctor or the most recent eye exam might be requested. After that, Dr. Anjali will talk about your goals and expectations for the surgery. You must decide whether to get blepharoplasty on all four eyelids or just the upper or lower eyelids.

How is Blepharoplasty Surgery performed?

Blepharoplasty may take from one to three hours, depending on the degree of surgery. Dr. Anjali will most likely start with the upper lids and work her way down if you’re getting all four eyelids treated.
Dr. Anjali makes incisions in the creases of your upper lids, and just beneath the lashes in the lower lids during a standard procedure. The cuts may extend into the crow’s feet or laugh lines at the outer edges of your eyes.
The skin is separated from underlying fatty tissue and muscle, extra fat is removed, and sagging skin and muscle are trimmed using a scalpel. The incisions are then sealed with tiny stitches.
For the lower eyelids, Dr. Anjali may perform a transconjunctival blepharoplasty on you if you have a pocket of fat beneath your lower eyelids but don’t need to have any skin removed. The incision is made inside your lower eyelid in this procedure, leaving no obvious scar. It’s usually done on younger individuals with more elastic and thicker skin.
However if excess skin is also present then Dr. Anjali will need to make an incision through the lower eyelid skin in the crease just below the lash line.
After surgery, your eyes will most likely be coated with ointment and a bandage applied to them. When the anesthesia wears off, your eyelids may feel tight and painful, but you can manage any discomfort with prescription pain medication. What happens after Blepharoplasty Surgery?

Dr. Anjali may advise you to keep your head raised for several days and to apply ice packs to reduce swelling and bruising (bruising varies from person to person; it peaks during the first week and usually lasts between 2 weeks to a month).
You’ll be shown how to clean out your eyes, which may take a few days to get used to. Many doctors recommend eye ointments because your eyelids may feel scratchy at first and your eyes might hurt or itch.
For the first few days, you may also experience increased tearing, sensitivity to light (such as when you look at bright lights), and temporary changes in your vision, such as blurring.
Dr. Anjali will be watching your progress closely for the first week and up to 10 days. Your stitches will be removed two to seven days after surgery. As soon as they’re out of your eye, the swelling and discoloration around your eyes will slowly subside, and you’ll start to look and feel a lot better.
After two or three days, you should be able to read books or watch TV. But you shouldn’t wear contacts for about two weeks, at least not right away. And even after that, they might feel uncomfortable for a while until your eyes adjust.
Most people feel ready for public exposure and work after one to two weeks. After that, depending on the rate at which you heal and Dr. Anjali ’s instructions, you‘ll probably be able to put on makeup to cover up any remaining bruises.
You may be sensitive for several weeks after exposure to sunlight, wind, or other irritants, so you should wear glasses and a special sunscreen lotion for your eyes when you go outside.
Dr. Anjali will likely advise you to rest for three to five days after your surgery and to avoid any strenuous activity for about three weeks. It’s especially important to avoid activities like bending, lifting, and vigorous sports that raise your blood pressure. You may also be advised not to drink alcohol because it causes fluid retention.
